  1. Report out from Equity and Access in STEM Morning Workshop

  2. Santa Fe Community Foundation Funding Updates

    • Several grants at this point

    • SFCF Birth to Career initiative is significant grant $12,000 from last year, grant cycle ending July 31st

      • Shannon, Joanne Mollie working on final report

    • Children and youth commission

3. New CEN Steering Committee

    • Alanna Herrera (Wise Fool) and Leslie (MOIFA) have volunteered!

    • Ideally 3 people, at least 2; the individual time commitment is far less if there are 2 or 3 people

    • Contact Dana if you are interested in taking on a steering member position

    • Steering members take turns reaching out to speakers or deciding on a root topic for each meeting. In addition they determine the location of the meeting and collectively facilitate it

    • September meeting already planned → workshop

    • A meeting with old and new steering members will be set up shortly

4. Hosting Summer Interns Between Organizations

    • Many interns are new to town and interested in exploring Santa Fe

    • Participating Organizations:

    • The O’Keeffe Museum - July 20th, 12:00 pm, Lunch in their Research Center Garden. Please RSVP to Shannon and let her know if you have questions! sbay@okeeffemuseum.org.

    • SITE Santa Fe - August 10th,  12:00 pm. Please RSVP to Joanne Lefrak at lefrak@sitesantafe.org

    • School for Advanced Research - July 26th, 10 - 11:30 am, Private tour of the Indian Arts Research Center vaults. Please RSVP to iarc@sarsf.org or 505.954.7272 by Monday, July 23.  

    • Santa Fe Botanical Gardens - July 11th, 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Dinner in the gardens (meal contains gluten so please bring food if you are gluten free!) RSVP to Mollie Parsons at mollie@santafebotnicalgarden.org


5. Previous CEN Meeting Topics - Begin Brainstorming for July Planning Meeting

    • Fran Osborne: Accessibility advisory board/panel

    • Russel (Santa Fe prep): convergence project

      • Creating teen advisory branch creating programming

      • Possibly coming to July Meeting


6. Sub Committee Updates

    • CEN Summer Program

      • Feedback: Staff and Summer Associates not familiar with vicinity

      • Less kids than we anticipated: lower kids at site, some kids opted out

      • Who has authority at site?

      • Make sure that reflections from Kathleen are filled out

        • Document the things that didn’t work well so that we can make improvements for next year

      • Reimbursements will begin soon


    • 21st Century Teacher Training

      • Los Luceros - 25th August

      • Afternoon of 24th August is set up date

      • Will rent tables and chairs

      • Based on needs of presentation, different groups will be placed in particular locations

      • July 23rd 2:00pm, opportunity to see Los Luceros space

      • VISTAs help

      • All information that participating organizations would like to have distributed in the bags that will be provided to teachers at the training need to be to Dana by August 20th

      • Notify Dana if your training will require internet access

      • It is important that the teachers have the materials from the get go

        • The ordering process takes 3 - 4 weeks

      • Entire curriculum due August 10th


    • Teacher’s Night Out

      • October 3rd, SITE Santa Fe

      • Working on getting sponsors

        • Have LANL

        • Talking to different banks and dollars for schools

        • Completed flyer, in the process of getting it approved by the public schools

        • Elysia will be sending a letter to ask everyone to sign up

      • $35 to pre register, $45 later registration

7. Next Meeting

  • July 27th 12:00 - 1:00pm, Museum of International Folk Art - Brainstorming meeting

8. Opportunity Santa Fe Volunteer Fair

  • Saturday August 18th, 11:00 - 2:00 pm

  • Priority deadline sign-up: July 21st

  • Final deadline sign-up: August 10th
